How much to feed your frogs –

Feeding your frog the right amount food takes a bit of practice. The frogs can stress if there is too many uneaten fruit flies crawling around the tank. Start by feeding your frogs once a day.Place the amount of fruit flies in the tank that you feel your frog can eat. When it comes time to feed again, check around the tank for excess flies before adding more. If there are more flies left in the tank then reduce the amount of flies you put in on the next feeding. Adding a small piece of fruit to the tank will help keep the fruit flies in a certain area.I place a slice of banana in a small condiment cup and the fruit flies are attracted to it. The frogs will learn that the flies stay close to the banana. Eventually the frogs will know when they are hungry to go to the banana and they will find food.

Do frogs need supplements

The food needs to be dusted with supplements to help insure the proper nutrition.I use Rep-Cal calcium and Herptivite.DO not mix the supplements before hand.Only mix the amount you will use to feed that day and immediately before you dust the flies.

How to seed the tank with springtails –

When you want to seed your tank with springtails there is a couple ways this can be done. Place a piece of fruit or vegetable on top of the soil in the springtail culture overnight. The next morning the piece of fruit should be covered in springtails. Hold that piece of fruit over top of the vivarium and blow gently. This will cause the springtails to fall into the tank. Another way of doing this is to take some of the soil from the springtail culture and place it directly into the vivarium.

If you have provided enough leave litter and places to hide then springtails will start producing in your tank. If your springtail culture is made with charcoal and easy way to get them out is to flood the culture. By adding water to the culture the spring tails will float to the top. Using your hand or the culture lid hold back the charcoal and dump the water into the vivarium. Leaving the charcoal in the container will ensure that some springtails stay in the culture and continue to reproduce.
